Top 5 Public Companies Buying Up Crypto in 2025

As the crypto market continues to mature, more big-name companies are adding Bitcoin and other digital assets to their balance sheets. Here’s a look at five public companies that are still actively investing in crypto in 2025.

MicroStrategy

No surprise here MicroStrategy, led by Michael Saylor, remains the largest corporate Bitcoin holder. By 2025, they’ve accumulated over 190,000 BTC, maintaining their strategy of using Bitcoin as a treasury reserve. Saylor continues to call Bitcoin “digital property,” seeing it as protection against inflation and currency devaluation.

Tesla

Elon Musk’s Tesla still holds a notable amount of Bitcoin. After initially buying $1.5 billion worth back in 2021 and selling off some during market turbulence, Tesla’s treasury reports show they’re holding steady. Musk’s crypto interests also extend to Dogecoin, which Tesla accepts for some merchandise.

Coinbase

It might seem obvious, but Coinbase, as a major crypto exchange, keeps a substantial amount of crypto on its books. This isn’t just customer funds. Coinbase holds Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other assets as long-term strategic investments, reinforcing its commitment to the sector it serves.

Block (formerly Square)

Jack Dorsey’s company Block Inc. is also deeply invested in Bitcoin, treating it as a core part of its corporate strategy. Block sees Bitcoin as an instrument of economic empowerment, aligning with its mission to build tools for financial inclusion.

Marathon Digital Holdings

Unlike the others, Marathon is a Bitcoin mining company, so it naturally holds significant BTC reserves. They continue to mine new coins, stacking sats directly onto their balance sheet, betting on Bitcoin’s long-term growth.

Why It Matters

These companies aren’t just buying for speculation  they’re integrating crypto into their financial foundations. This helps validate Bitcoin and other digital assets as serious institutional investments.

It also means that corporate adoption could drive future bull markets, with public companies acting as long-term holders that take supply off the market.
